Das Theater Rampe ist ein Produktionshaus für zeitgenössisches Autor*innentheater, Performance, Tanz und Populärmusik. Ausgehend von Autor*innentheater erweitert es die Theaterpraxis diskursiv und interdisziplinär. Stadtraum-Bespielungen, breitgefächerte Kooperationen und partizipative Nachbarschaftsprojekte befördern den Zugang heterogener Öffentlichkeiten zum Theater. Der Vielfalt zeitgenössischer Theaterpositionen gibt das Theater Rampe in Stuttgart eine Bühne.
Kollaboration mit Initiativen und Institutionen in der Stadtgesellschaft und der Region sind fester Teil des Programms. Die Untersuchung des Verhältnisses zwischen Künstler*innen und diverser Publika ist eine wichtige Fragestellung in der Programmgestaltung.
In Eigen- und Koproduktion realisiert das Theater Rampe Uraufführungen, Stückentwicklungen und Autor*innenresidenzen, zeitgenössische Theatertexte sowie experimentelle Formate. In seinem Gastspielprogramm holt es überregionale Performances nach Stuttgart, schafft künstlerische Verknüpfungen, die der Stuttgarter Theaterszene wichtige Impulse geben. Auch für lokale Künstler*innengruppen wird das Festival der Freien Darstellenden Künste der Stadt Stuttgart und des Landes Baden-Württemberg unter dem Titel 6 TAGE FREI biennal vom Theater Rampe veranstaltet.
2019 wurde das Theater Rampe mit dem Theaterpreis des Bundes ausgezeichnet.
Das Theater ist untergebracht im Depot der „Zacke“, einer Zahnradbahn, die allabendlich ins Foyer des Theaters einfährt und dort parkt.

Theater Rampe is a platform for contemporary authors‘ theatre, independent performing arts, dance and pop music. Based on the authors‘ theatre it widens the term theatre discursively and interdisciplinary. Urban places, cooperations and participative approaches enhance the access to theatre for diverse public spheres. Theater Rampe is a stage for a wide range of contemporary theatre propositions.
Main parts of the agenda are collaborative projects hand in hand with initiatives and institutions in the urban society and the region. Analysing the relationship between artists and different audiences represents an important focus in programming.
Via co- and in-house productions the theatre conceives debut performances, play-developments and residencies for authors, along with contemporary theatrical plays and experimental formats. The guest performance program encompasses supra-regional performances and also creates artistical bonds in order to provide new impulses to the theatre scene in Stuttgart. Likewise Theater Rampe provides a venue and a long-term cooperation partner for local artists. Since 2015 every two years Theater Rampe organises the „Festival der Freien Darstellenden Künste der Stadt Stuttgart und des Landes Baden-Württemberg“ under the name of 6 TAGE FREI.
In 2019, the Theater Rampe was awarded the Theater Prize of the Federal Government.
The theatre is located in the depot of the „Zacke“. Every evening this cog railway enters the foyer of the theatre for its night’s rest.
