Relebohile Mabunda

Relebohile Mabunda ist eine angewandte Theaterpraktikerin, Darstellerin, Kunstaktivistin und wissenschaftliche Forscherin. Sie hat einen Bachelor of Arts Honours in Angewandtem Theater und Drama für soziale Kontexte und Gemeinschaften sowie einen Master-Abschluss in Kulturpolitik und Kulturmanagement von der University of Witwatersrand in Südafrika. Die gesammelte Erfahrung und die aufgebauten Netzwerke haben es ihr ermöglicht, mit Menschen aus marginalisierten Gemeinschaften, einschließlich Kindern und Jugendlichen mit Behinderungen, zu arbeiten und zu interagieren. Sie entdeckte ihre Liebe zur Kunst schon in jungen Jahren und folgte seitdem ihrer Leidenschaft, eine beeindruckende Praktikerin und Aktivistin in der Gemeindekunst zu sein.

Als Beleg dafür wurde ihre kreative Arbeit auf verschiedenen Theaterfestivals präsentiert. Mit ihrem Hintergrund in angewandtem Drama und Theater gründete sie Lule Productions als Sprungbrett, um mehr marginalisierte Gemeinschaften zu erreichen und mit ihnen in Kontakt zu treten. Sie setzt sich dafür ein, dass Gemeindekünstler und Kunst auf Graswurzelebene lebendig bleiben, und ihre Vision hat ihr die Möglichkeit eingebracht, Gemeindekünstler in lokalen und provinziellen Kunstforen zu vertreten. Derzeit ist Relebohile Mabunda Fellow der Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung im Rahmen des German Chancellor Leadership Programms am ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen). Sie leitet ein künstlerisches Forschungsprojekt, um die soziale Wirkung des Gemeindetheaters auf Graswurzelebene zu verstehen und zu erforschen.

Relebohile Mabunda is an applied theatre practitioner, performer, arts activist, and academic researcher. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Applied Theatre and Drama for social contexts and communities and a Master’s degree in Cultural Policy and Cultural leadership from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. The experience and networks gained have allowed her to work and interact with people from marginalized communities including children and youth living with disabilities. She unearthed her love for the arts at an early age and since then, she followed her passion for being a formidable practitioner and activist in the community arts.

As a testament to this, her creative work has been showcased in various theatre festivals. Using her applied drama and theatre background, she co-founded Lule Productions as a steppingstone to accessing and engaging with more marginalized communities. She strives to keep community artists and arts alive at a grassroots level and her vision has earned her opportunities of representing community artists through local and provincial art forums. Currently, Relebohile Mabunda is a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung German Chancellor Leadership at ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen). She facilitates and leads an artistic research project to understand the social impact of community theatre in grassroot level.
