Do what you saw

Über 20 Jahre gemeinsamen Arbeitens hinweg haben Oblivia die „Do what you saw-Methode“ entwickelt. Das sind Soloimprovisationen, die die anderen zunächst beobachten und dann adaptieren und weiterentwickeln. So können wir eine gemeinsame Basis finden und unser Material miteinander teilen. Jede*r bringt als Expert*in eigenes Wissen, eigene Erfahrung ein, etwas, das man persönlich gefunden hat und das dann durch den Improvisationsprozess destilliert wird. Nach Körper- und Stimmtraining wird eine Fülle an Ideen zum Thema geschaffen. Die Teilnehmer*innen lernen Wege kennen, um mit Subtilität, Humor, Präsenz und Timing zu arbeiten.

Die Teilnahmegebühr für den Workshop beträgt 5 Euro.

In the Facing the Un-known workshop Oblivia share their collective working practices, the “Do what you saw”-method in a work-shop where we embody and big themes in a playful way.

We start with body- and voice work and continue with the Do what you saw method where we create and collect material together for the big impro at the end of the day.

Do what you saw is a method for creating and devising material together. Through the distilling and sharing process that happens in the work-shop, the participants create an abundance of material to work with. The work-shop invites the participants to experience ways to distil and share ideas into action and text. They will encounter ways of working together with subtlety, humour, presence and timing.

Do what you saw has been developed by Oblivias founding members Timo Fredriksson, Anna Krzystek and Annika Tudeer for devising material for Oblivias performances ten years ago for the Entertainment Island trilogy.

About Oblivia:

Founded in 2000 in Helsinki, the international performance company Oblivia is a unique force on the Finnish performance scene. Oblivia’s members come from music, dance, theatre, light design, costume-design and theory. The mixed genres create a vibrant tension and humour in the minimalistic black-box work. From the beginning Oblivia has been collectively creating a shared performance language. Oblivias performance Entertainment Island toured over several years in Europe, followed by the five years project Museum of Post-Modern Art that was finalised in 2016. Now Oblivia is investigating collectivity and how to work together in the Together project that leads up to 20 years of Oblivia in 2020.
